Wildlife Gardening on Allotments

Although the primary purpose of allotment sites is to grow food they offer many other benefits and their contribution to supporting wildlife in urban areas is significant. In recognition of this in 2012, many Local Authorities put together local habitat action plans for allotments as part of their overall Bio-diversity Action Plans.

The National Allotment Society (NSALG) is part of the Wildlife Gardening Forum (WLGF), a large group of organisations and individuals who share a passion for the wildlife, which enlivens our gardens and allotments, and who want more people to understand how important gardens are for wildlife, human health and well-being, and for a sustainable future.
